Imagine taking a blood test to understand your health. Would you rather know what nutrients are circulating in your bloodstream today or what has accumulated in your body over the past few months? Plants are no different.
So does this mean sap analysis should
replace tissue testing? Not at all.
The most useful
question is not which method is better? but rather what question are
you trying to answer?
If you want to
understand what has accumulated in the plant over time, tissue analysis is
often the better choice. If you want to know what nutrients are currently
moving through the plant and supporting growth, sap analysis may provide
greater insight. Used together, the two methods offer a more complete picture
of plant nutrition than either can provide alone.
In short, Sap analysis shows nutrients in
transit. Tissue analysis shows nutrients in storage. Together, they help us
understand both the present and the history of plant nutrition
